One round, step by step
How to play Impostor
Everyone gets a question, answers in secret, and votes on their own screen. On the Results screen, the group discovers who received the different question.
From 3 players
Free includes 3 players, including the Host; Impostor+ allows more. Everyone joins the Lobby before the first round.
No passing a device around. Everyone answers and votes on their own screen.
- Every participant uses their own iPhone or iPad with iOS/iPadOS 26.6 or later. The app and its questions are in Romanian.
- Connect every device to the same Wi-Fi network and allow Local Network access. Gameplay does not need Internet access.
- The Host selects “Creează joc” (Create game), then a name, category and round count. Others select “Intră într-un joc” (Join a game), enter their name and choose the Host from the list.
- The Host sets the pace but plays normally: answering, voting, scoring, and potentially becoming the impostor.
- No account or room code is needed. New players cannot join after the first round starts.

Create the game
HostThe Host chooses the category and total number of rounds. Both stay fixed for the session.

Get your question
One player gets a different question that could lead to similar answers. Everyone else gets the group question. Each player sees only their own question, without knowing whether they are the impostor.

Answer
Everyone submits one short private answer. Once accepted, it cannot be changed that round.

Reveal the group question and answers
HostAfter everyone answers, the Host reveals the group question and every answer with its player’s name. The impostor question and identity remain hidden.

Discuss
HostCompare answers with the group question and discuss face to face. Who seems to have received another question? The Host starts voting when you are ready, without a chat or timer.

Vote
The group question and answers are visible; the impostor question and identity remain hidden. Each active player votes for another active player once. A submitted vote cannot be changed.

Reveal the impostor
HostAfter every vote is in, the Host shows Results: the impostor, group question, impostor question and answers. You see vote totals, not who voted for whom.

Score the round
Results award round points and update total scores. The Host starts the next round directly when the group is ready. The impostor changes each round, including after a cancelled round. After the last round, each player chooses Vezi clasamentul final (View final leaderboard) when they have finished reading the results.

How scoring works
The impostor must have more votes than anyone else. A tie lets them escape.

Maria gets +2; everyone else gets 0.
The impostor is caught if they receive more votes than any other player. Everyone else gets +1, regardless of whom they voted for; the impostor gets 0.
If someone else has more votes, or the impostor ties for the highest total, the impostor escapes and gets +2; everyone else gets 0.
Rounds and the leaderboard
A cancelled round does not use up one of your chosen rounds. Scores belong to the current game only. During play, the trophy button opens the leaderboard. After the last round, Vezi clasamentul final opens it on a separate screen. Începe un joc nou (Start a new game) opens a fresh game setup with scores back at zero.
Equal scores remain equal; join order only determines display order.
If a connection drops
If the connection drops, the app attempts to restore it. When needed, return to Impostor and use Retry in the current game. Accepted answers and votes stay valid. A disconnected player remains on the roster and may block progress until they reconnect or the Host removes them.
The rules are the same for everyone.
Free and Impostor+ change the available categories, configured round count, and player capacity—not how you answer, reveal, vote, or score. Only the Host needs Impostor+.
Some categories, including Unfiltered · 18+, cover adult themes. The 18+ marker is a content warning, not a confirmed App Store rating.
