You can contact the company at contact@dorobantimedia.com or +40 730 000 064. The same email address is monitored for support and privacy-rights requests.
DOROBANȚI NETWORK S.R.L. is the website operator and, for the Impostor app, the App Store publisher, developer, EU trader, subscription supplier, and support provider.
2. Scope and relationship with Apple terms
These Terms cover use of the Impostor website, its information and support pages, and the information presented about the native Impostor app for iPhone and iPad.
The website does not create an account, complete a web sale, collect payment, provide a licence key, or offer an alternative unlock path. Commercial access to Impostor+ takes place through the App Store.
Use of the app is also subject to Apple’s Standard EULA. These Terms do not replace Apple’s Standard EULA, are not a custom EULA, and do not amend the Apple terms that apply to an account, payment, billing, or subscription management.
3. What Impostor is
Impostor is a local party game for people who are physically nearby, with each participant using their own iPhone or iPad. One participant creates the game and becomes the Host, but still answers, votes, and scores like everyone else and may be selected as the impostor.
The Host chooses the category and total number of rounds, then deliberately moves the game through answering, reveal, in-person discussion, voting, and results. There are no answer, discussion, or voting timers, and the game does not advance automatically between those phases.
Impostor is not an internet lobby, public room, pass-the-phone game, or account service. It does not provide public matchmaking, in-app chat, persistent profiles, global leaderboards, or cloud storage for gameplay.
Core rules
- A game requires at least 3 players in total, including the Host; a group of 4 or more is recommended.
- Each round has exactly one impostor and two comparable questions.
- Each participant answers and votes once, privately, on their own device.
- Scores exist only within the current game and do not form a persistent or global ranking.
4. Free and Impostor+
A Host using the free version can create a game for 3 players in total, including the Host, with the A Bit of Everything category and between 1 and 5 rounds.
Impostor+ gives the Host access to all ten categories, between 1 and 20 rounds, and the ability to host more players, subject to the Host device’s technical capacity. A session uses the content belonging to its selected category.
Only the Host needs verified Impostor+ access. Other participants can join the Host’s premium game without holding Impostor+ and without buying a subscription on their own device.
Premium content may expand over time, but no weekly, monthly, or other fixed release cadence is promised.
5. Impostor+ subscription
Impostor+ is an auto-renewing weekly subscription. The subscription renews at the weekly price shown in the App Store until cancelled. Purchase and subscription management take place through the App Store.
Purchase takes place through the App Store. Apple handles the transaction and billing associated with the App Store account; the app and website do not receive payment-card details. Restoring access is initiated in the app, and the subscription can be managed or cancelled through the Apple account options available to the user.
The website does not display a numeric price or advertise an introductory offer or free period. The current price and any applicable offer, including eligibility conditions, are shown in the App Store before purchase is confirmed.
6. The Host, local play, and reconnection
Participating devices connect locally while nearby through Apple-provided networking technologies. Joining is available only in the Lobby and closes permanently once gameplay begins.
The Host maintains the authoritative game state but receives the same role- and phase-appropriate view as the other participants; the person acting as Host must not see round secrets early.
A disconnection does not automatically remove a player or erase an accepted answer or vote. Progress may wait for reconnection or for the Host to remove the player. The app attempts one automatic reconnection after an established connection is lost and then offers Retry, without guaranteeing recovery in every situation.
If the Host leaves, the session ends. There is no Host migration.
7. Participant responsibilities
Use Impostor lawfully, respectfully, and in a way that suits the group. Participants are responsible for the names and answers they enter and for how they discuss the content in person.
Do not enter content that harasses, threatens, discriminates, infringes another person’s rights, or improperly discloses personal or confidential information. Do not attempt to disrupt sessions, access devices or data without authorization, or circumvent Impostor+ access controls or Apple payment mechanisms.
Information entered in a local session becomes visible to other participants according to the game phase. Each participant should consider this before entering a name or answer.
8. The “Unfiltered · 18+” category
“Unfiltered · 18+” contains adult themes and carries a product content warning. The warning is not age verification, is not an App Store-assigned rating, and does not mean that the entire app is automatically subject to a legal adults-only restriction.
The Host should choose a category appropriate for the group’s age, comfort, and context. Participants can choose not to use this category.
9. Availability and compatibility
The game is designed for compatible iPhone and iPad devices. Nearby connectivity depends on the Host device, system versions, system permissions and pairing prompts, distance, and local network conditions.
Compatibility with every device combination, a fixed physical participant count, uninterrupted connectivity, seamless reconnection, and recovery after the app process terminates are not guaranteed. Effective Impostor+ capacity may vary with the Host device.
Free local gameplay does not require a developer gameplay server. Loading offers, purchasing, restoring, and managing a subscription may require connectivity to Apple services.
10. Intellectual property and permitted use
The Impostor name, app, website, interface, artwork, categories, questions, and other materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Rights remain with their lawful holders.
You may view the website for personal information and use the app within the Apple licence and applicable law. Without express authorization or a legal right, you may not copy, systematically extract, modify, resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the game’s materials or content.
Nothing in these Terms limits uses that applicable law mandatorily permits.
11. Updates and service changes
The app, website, and content may be updated for security, compatibility, legal compliance, issue resolution, or product improvement. Perpetual availability of every feature, category, or question is not promised.
Any change affecting paid functionality will respect the relevant service description, the paid period, and mandatory consumer rights. These Terms do not create a unilateral right to remove paid value or statutory remedies.
12. Access restrictions and termination
Impostor does not use developer accounts, so these Terms do not contain profile suspensions, cloud-storage rules, or account-closure procedures. In a local game, the Host may remove a participant, including where that participant’s missing input prevents progress.
Website access may be restricted proportionately where needed for security, abuse prevention, or legal compliance. Such a measure does not by itself cancel an Apple-managed subscription or remove mandatory rights associated with a purchase.
13. Conformity, statutory warranties, and remedies
If you are a consumer, you have mandatory rights concerning conformity of digital content and services, updates, repair or correction, price reduction, termination, and any other remedy that applies to your situation.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or conditions a right that applicable Romanian or EU law does not allow to be waived. No wording in this document should be read as “all sales are final” or as a waiver of a statutory warranty.
Apple procedures may also apply to an App Store purchase, without removing mandatory rights you hold against the entity responsible under applicable law.
14. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability to the extent that exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law.
The local nature of the game is relevant when assessing an issue: participant actions, participant-entered content, device availability, and nearby network conditions may affect a session. This explanation does not remove legal obligations concerning conformity, security, or remedies.
15. Governing law and competent courts
These Terms are governed by Romanian law. If you are a consumer in another European Union Member State, you retain the mandatory protections granted by the law of your habitual residence.
Nothing in these Terms removes your right to bring a claim before a court competent under mandatory consumer rules, including your home forum where applicable law provides it.
16. Complaints and dispute resolution
For questions or complaints, you can contact us at contact@dorobantimedia.com or +40 730 000 064. Contacting the company first is not a condition for referring a matter to a competent authority or court.
Consumers can submit a general complaint to Romania’s National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) through the official service linked below, within the authority’s competence.
For eligible disputes, the alternative dispute resolution procedure (SAL) administered by ANPC is available through the official route linked below. The official SAL pictogram is displayed on the homepage. SAL is distinct from a general ANPC complaint and does not remove access to the courts.
17. Changes to these Terms
These Terms apply from the effective date shown above. The version and date change only when the Terms are updated.
The Terms may be updated to reflect changes to the product, providers, legal requirements, or business practices. The new version and applicable date will be shown clearly, and changes will not retroactively reduce mandatory rights or value already paid for.
